A well-built deck changes how you spend your summer.

Falco builds custom decks, pergolas, and outdoor structures for homeowners in Cambridge and across the Waterloo Region. Every build is designed around how you actually want to use the space and built for the Ontario climate from the ground up.

How we approach deck builds

The decks that fail early almost always share the same problems: wrong fasteners, inadequate drainage gaps between boards, footings that weren't built for Ontario frost depth. None of that shows on day one. It shows up two or three winters later when boards start to cup, connections loosen, and the structure begins moving in ways it shouldn't.

Every Falco deck is built correctly from the start. Proper footings, correct board spacing, hardware rated for the conditions. It should be table stakes for any contractor. Not all of them treat it that way.

Material options

Cedar decking

Natural and warm in a way composite doesn't quite replicate. Requires more care over time, but for homeowners who prefer working with natural materials and are willing to maintain it, cedar is a genuinely strong choice.

Pressure treated

The most budget-conscious option and still a solid build when done correctly. Quality hardware, proper drainage gaps, and good finishing make a real difference in how long a pressure treated deck holds up in the Ontario climate.

Pergolas and outdoor structures

A pergola turns a deck from a platform into a space. We build wood and composite pergolas designed to work with the structure below them, not sit on top as an afterthought. Freestanding outdoor structures, covered builds, and deck-mounted shade structures are all part of what we do across Cambridge and the Waterloo Region.

What’s included:

Every deck build starts with a design consultation where we talk through how you use the space, go through material options honestly, and look at how the structure relates to your home.

You receive a detailed written proposal with every line item explained before any work begins. Where a permit is required under Ontario Building Code, we handle it on our end.

If anything comes up on site that affects the scope, you hear about it and approve it before anything moves forward.

Construction runs with regular updates throughout, and a final walkthrough happens before we close the job.

On permits

Under Ontario Building Code, decks over 600mm above grade or attached to the house typically require a building permit.

In the Waterloo Region, requirements vary slightly by municipality. We handle the permitting process so you don't have to figure it out yourself. If your project needs a permit, we tell you upfront and build it into the timeline.
